Aqua Kem (Campa) Green is a biologically active holding tank additive.
- Chemically changes the optimum conditions for certain micro-organisms in the waste holding tank.
- Aerobic (=with oxygen) decomposition is encouraged which leads to a reduction of malodorous compounds being formed > this is the biological action mentioned in the product documentation.
- Active chemical compound is consumed by the micro-organisms during product use in the holding tank.
- “Green” products are more sensitive to ambient temperatures than “Blue”. Higher temperatures (> 30 °C) require more frequent emptying, i.e. the product will last less. This is due to the biological nature: micro-organisms grow faster with higher temperatures.
Septick Tank Safe.
Our “Green” holding tank additives are safe to dispose in a septic tank.
- A septic tank is a small scale wastewater treatment facility used in locations where a regular sewage system is not available.
- Aqua Kem / Campa Green and Aqua Rinse (Spray) Plus have been verified in a test according to ISO 11734.
- ISO 11734 “Water quality -- Evaluation of the "ultimate" anaerobic biodegradability of organic” is a standardized method to check the possible impact of chemicals on micro-organisms.
- The products for which we claim “septic tank safe” on the label will, when used properly, not impact the biological environment in a well maintained septic tank system.
Can other additives be disposed of in a septic tank?
- Technically, yes.
- Practically, no. Because “Blue” additives are chemically different to “Green” additives, and they contain substances that are more challenging to the environment in a septic tank system.
- If properly diluted with additional water, there would not be a problem, but the amount of additional water required will be different from situation to situation.
- This is not something we can endorse in general.
Why is there an expiration date on our products (3 years)?
- In general, household chemicals do not feature shelf life indications.
- In general, this is not necessary because they are fast movers and will be used up quickly by the consumer after purchase.
- Our products are less fast moving in the supply chain, and when purchased, are used in a seasonal pattern where a product may be used up over a period of 1 or 2 years. That’s why we have an expiration date on the bottle.
- Chemically, our products are generally stable at room temperature for a period of at least 3 years after manufacturing.
- After this period, the functionality may be impaired (loss of fragrance, breakdown of active compounds). The product can still be used, but possibly more is needed to get the same effect.
What is the difference between Aqua Soft and regular toilet paper?
- Aqua Soft is made from virgin wood pulp (=trees), not recycled fibers.
- It also contains less binder than regular domestic toilet papers, and no wet strength additives.
- These two factors result in paper fibers that are quick to separate when immersed in water, and lead to a almost completely disintegrating toilet paper.
- Some commercially available white single ply domestic toilet papers come close to the performance of Aqua Soft as far as disintegration is concerned, but none meet the specs.
- Grey toilet papers, or toilet papers containing recycled fibers generally dissolve too slowly, or not at all. This is a technical consequence: recycling fibers for paper requires additional binders and additives.
- Can our products be more environmentally friendly?
- All our products are formulated in such a way to have minimal impact on the environment and the health of the consumer, whilst being as effective as possible.
- Our products meet all current legal and regulatory requirements.
- That being said, we’re not selling lemonade. Our products serve a very specific purpose for which a specific approach is required.
- There is a fine line between more environmentally friendly and less hazardous products, and getting the appropriate performance in use.
- We’re constantly aware of this balance, and work towards optimization of both ends of the equation.
Safety data sheets
Why are these not on the website?
- SDS-es are for professional users, not consumers.
- SDS-es should not be provided to consumers. While it is not forbidden or illegal, most consumers will not be able to interpret the information on an SDS correctly.
- SDS-es contain information relevant to workplace exposure to the products, and large scale impacts of the products on health and environment.
- We supply SDS-es to our primary customers (wholesalers, dealers) and other entities (governments, customs, other authorities) when necessary.
- For internal purposes, all product SDS-es are available on the computer network.
- Consumers are informed about hazards and precautions of the product via the label. This is adequate.
